Good Faith Estimate
Effective Date: July 30, 2026
The No Surprises Act protects individuals who do not have insurance or who choose not to use their health insurance to pay for healthcare services. Under this law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that explains the expected cost of your counseling services before you begin treatment.
1. What Is a Good Faith Estimate?
A Good Faith Estimate is a written document that outlines the expected cost of the healthcare services you may receive. It is intended to help you understand your anticipated expenses before treatment begins so that you can make informed decisions about your care.
2. Who Can Receive a Good Faith Estimate?
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate if you are uninsured or if you choose not to submit claims to your health insurance for counseling services. You may request an estimate before scheduling services or at any time during treatment.
3. What Information Is Included?
A Good Faith Estimate includes the expected costs of counseling services that are reasonably anticipated based on the information available at the time the estimate is prepared. Because every individual's needs are unique, the actual number of sessions and the total cost of treatment may vary depending on your goals, progress, and clinical needs.
4. Changes to Your Treatment
Your counseling needs may change over time, and your treatment plan may be adjusted accordingly. If your expected costs change significantly, an updated Good Faith Estimate may be provided to reflect those changes.
5. If Your Bill Is Higher Than Your Estimate
If you receive a bill that is substantially higher than the Good Faith Estimate you received, you may have the right to dispute the charges through the patient-provider dispute resolution process established by federal law. Information about this process is available through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
6. Requesting a Good Faith Estimate
If you would like to receive a Good Faith Estimate before beginning counseling services, or if you have questions about the estimated cost of treatment, please contact Connie Thorson Counseling using the contact information provided on the Contact page of this website. A Good Faith Estimate will be provided in accordance with applicable federal requirements.
7. Additional Information
A Good Faith Estimate is provided for informational purposes only and does not create a contract or obligate you to receive services. The estimate reflects the information available at the time it is prepared and may change if your treatment needs or circumstances change.
